TERENGGANU STRENGTHENS ITS POSITION AS PREMIER 4X4 OFF-ROAD DESTINATION

The Terengganu International GPx4 Offroad Challenge featured two race categories — Litecore Open and Camping Body Hardcore — during its two-day event held from 3–5 October 2025 at Belukar Bukit, Hulu Terengganu.

Terengganu has once again proven its status as Malaysia’s premier off-road motorsport hub with the successful staging of the Terengganu International GPx4 Offroad Challenge, which drew 174 drivers and 87 4×4 machines from across the country to Belukar Bukit for a two-day adrenaline-fueled showdown.

Backed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) through Tourism Malaysia and the Terengganu State Government, the event’s growing prestige and strong turnout have prompted organizers to consider elevating the competition’s scale in future editions.

One of the standout moments came from the Land Rover Defender Series 3 88, fielded by Team GG 4×4, which captured attention with its performance during the off-road race.
The two-day Terengganu International GPx4 Offroad Challenge 2025 successfully drew a large crowd, including enthusiastic local residents from Belukar Bukit, Hulu Terengganu.
The diverse terrain of Belukar Bukit added significant value to the event, offering natural challenges that elevated the prestige of the two-day race held from 3–5 October 2025.

“Terengganu is a natural playground for 4×4 enthusiasts, offering diverse terrains that provide unmatched challenges compared to other states,” said Muhammad Muzammil Mokhetar, Race Director and President of Ummah 4×4 Sports Club (UT 4×4). “We also have a wealth of scenic locations across districts that could serve as future venues, aligning perfectly with our vision to position this event within the broader framework of sports tourism.”

The sentiment was echoed by Terengganu State Tourism Exco, Datuk Razali Idris, who highlighted the event’s socio-economic impact on rural communities.

“This race not only attracted a significant number of participants from outside Terengganu, but also brought tangible benefits to the local economy, even in remote areas,” he said. “It reinforces our strategy to develop Terengganu as a sports tourism destination and supports our momentum heading into Visit Malaysia Year 2026, now just two months away.”

Datuk Razali also commended the organizers for attracting international participation, further cementing the event’s potential on the global off-road calendar. He officiated the closing ceremony and presented prizes to the winners on the final night.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), through Tourism Malaysia, was among the strategic partners of the Terengganu International GPx4 Offroad Challenge 2025, which was held over two days from 3–5 October 2025 at Belukar Bukit, Hulu Terengganu.

The event was jointly organized by UT 4×4 and Kelab Terjoh 4×4 Terengganu, both based in Kuala Nerus. The two clubs previously made waves with the successful Merdeka 4×4 Challenge 2025 held in August, further solidifying their reputation in Malaysia’s off-road motorsport scene.
